Now I have had my second Covid vaccine, for which I am extremely grateful.
I was booked at an Alberta health location in the north of Edmonton in a large space built for retail. We were scheduled in cohorts for every 10 minutes with clear instructions not to come early! After a couple of identity and health card checks I was directed to one of the tables to get my shot. Everyone was very friendly and we were all on our best behavior. So novel to be among such a vast crowd.
After my shot I was told to go to an area with chairs and wait for 15 minutes before I left to make sure I had no strange reactions. It was a warm day and my eyes gently closed and as I sat there I became aware of the sound: a wonderful bubbling of human voices, all blended together, rising and falling in waves, no words to distinguish, just this wonderful sound of 200 human beings together, cooperating and happy to help or be helped. Just how delightful to let this sound float over me in waves of human warmth.
Congrats on the blog….
Thank you Frankie, such an adventure!
Such an adventure. Still getting up to speed on how all this works!
Thanks Frankie, so glad you reached my blog. New posts every week!
Images of Walter J. Philip’s “The Tranquility and the Turbulence “ cross my mind as I read this blog. What a wonderful space to place yourself in. Reminds me that the only difference between chaos and serenity is perspective.
A true gift Julia
Thank you Lauren. What a thoughtful comment.
How deeply perceptive of you Julia. My emerging pragmatic self just watched the clock, ready to bolt when the time was up, as Kent was waiting for me. Looking back now the space I shared with so many others ( Victoria Conference Centre ) did have a quiet hum to it. People in chairs, masked and not talking. Mostly with eyes glued to a cell phone. Quiet bubbles within one big bubble.
Maybe you still have your second shot when you can tune in!
The Great Canadian Syncho Pie is absolutely brilliant Julia. Such lovely whimsy and art.
You are definitely creatively unleashed.
Thanks Catherine, it was a fun crazy artsy project!
Glad to say we are back to Tai Chi in the park, with now 10 people allowed to gather outside – masks and distance of course!
