Apologies dear reader, it has been a good six weeks since I posted on my blog. The six weeks I was away travelling: Spain and then England. I am back as of last evening, and here I am not even 24 hours later posting at least something. I was busy on Facebook (Julia Sargeaunt) but posting on the blog would just have overwhelmed me and probably would not have worked anyway.
All went well and indeed it was great. Such stress and such a treat to travel after and during our Covid lives. I was very worried before I left about Covid. It was just settling in with everyone and everywhere it seemed. It was not if but when. And then there are the attacks on Ukraine. Would the war spread? And there I was in Europe.
The Spanish language. I wrote about my endeavours with online lessons. Really, I suppose they were of some help but it sure did not feel like it. And years ago, I did real Spanish classes, but it felt like I had never done any learning. I guess that was not quite the case. By the end of my month in Spain, I felt I could have a chance at it and I did actually find myself helping someone out.
The advantage of being language deprived is that I did not get updates from Ukraine. In fact, it was six weeks with no television and no radio. I did have internet.
So I have adventures to tell and I will write some of them up in the next few weeks as though I was still there: visiting Madrid, walking the Camino and being a volunteer up in that sweet Spanish village – population 50 – in the Spanish Pyrenes.
